Target Corporation
CREA has hosted two meetings at CREA House with representatives of Target Corporation, one in 2001 and one in 2004. Building on a foundation laid in the years following 1995 by shareholder activity by the Sisters of Mercy of Connecticut and the New England Coalition for Responsible Investment (NECRI), CREA has served as the leader of the investors' dialogue on the contract supplier issue with the corporation.
Over these years, Target has created a corporate-wide structure to monitor the compliance of its suppliers with the company's code of conduct, called Standards of Vendor Engagement. The company has taken serious steps to deal with issues of failure to pay wages when due, and egregious violations of their standards.
Dialogue with the company continues.
